April Glossybox

Yesterday I received my first ever Glossybox*. For those of you who aren't familiar with Glossybox, you basically subscribe for £10 a month (plus P&P) and get sent a lovely little box full of luxury sample (and sometimes full size) beauty products. Back when I was on a temporary contract I lusted after Glossybox and often found my cursor hovering over the subscribe button, but I couldn't bear to subscribe knowing I might have to cancel at any point due to my job - especially when I knew there was a good chance I'd fall in love with the subscription.

Claudalie Vinosource SOS Thirst Quenching Serum: I was really excited to see this in my box, as it's a brand that is really doing the rounds at the moment and I'm oh so intrigued and really excited to try it out. I tried it out this morning and it applies really easily and a little goes a long way. It sinks into the skin quickly and gives it a bit more moisture after I've washed my face. I'm interested to see how it affects the longevity of my makeup on work days and to see if my skin benefits in any other ways so I will keep you posted on this one!

Inika Cosmetics Certified Organic Lip Liner: I'm not always too fussed about lip liners, but I do really like the colour, it's slightly orangey, so I think this would work really well under my Mac "Ravishing" lipstick or Tutti Frutti Revlon Lip Butter, or even under a nude lipstick to give it a bit of colour. I really like the packaging, it gives the feel of a luxury product even though I wont use it regularly.

Ayuuri Peppermint Bodywash: A very simple product, which I think I'll use up quite happily as I love a good bath wash. It's not one for me to get overly excited about, but it's still a really nice touch and I love the smell and the fact it's a massive bottle! A lot of people have said they aren't overly happy with this as bath wash is essential and not luxury but the most I would spend on an every day essential body wash is £2 at a maximum, so a body wash for almost £5 is more of a luxury for me!

Figs and Rouge Lip Balm: I'm not overly fussed on the rose smell of the balm, I don't really like the smell of rose at all really but I really love the idea of balms that can be used on other dry areas (which is what this one is) so I've happily popped this in my everyday make up bag that I carry round with me, so I can give it a good road test!

Phillip B Drop Dead Straightening Balm: I don't talk about my hair too much on my blog, which is so odd because it's all anyone in real life seems to comment on on a daily basis. It's very long, and I wear it straight most days. My hair is naturally curly so I'm actually a huge fan of straightening creams and balms! I saw so many people were disappointed as they wouldn't get use of this but I will 100% and although I have a regular favourite already, I'm still looking forward to giving this a whirl.

Overall, I thought this box was a really good one, as it seemed to cover a multitude of different products for different parts of your face and body. I think the mix of brands was a really good one as there were some really big brands and some I hadn't heard of before. I think the concept of beauty boxes over all is incredibly subjective as everyone has different tastes and views on how they would like it to be done and what they would like. I love the over all concept of beauty boxes and am happy to receive more than just make up in a box (where as in an ideal world some others may enjoy purely make up items). I love the themed beauty boxes that Glossybox has started to send out and I'm really interested to see what they do for their one year anniversary box.

Packaging junkie moment: The delivery of a product is a key aspect for me, I love the standard Glossybox packaging already and the biodegradable box this month was definitely just as cute! I've taken the beautiful little box to my boyfriends to keep some of my travel bits in, as the colour isn't offensive in any way and will blend in with his boy bedroom to the point where even he won't notice I've put it there unless I tell him. The interior packaging is also just perfect for me, I love the print in the top of the lid, the way it came all wrapped up in keeping with it's natural theme... every detail from the box to the tiny sticker is just so cute and it really does make you feel special opening it, and I think it's something that is sometimes overlooked or taken for granted, but it's still something that Glossybox have done very well. It's presented the way I like my birthday presents to be wrapped, so basically if it feels like it's my birthday on a monthly basis then I'm sold!

So, has Glossybox lived up to my expectations? Definitely, but it needs to be noted, that for a £10 subscription I would never expect too much, I've worked for enough businesses to get a decent enough understanding on how the services make money and for the subscription price I would never expect for example a Harrods Glossybox every single month, but I was really happy with what I received, I didn't feel disappointment in any way. I think I will always be happy as long as there is at least one product I'm excited about... Claudalie serum anyone?

Let me know your thoughts on this box/Glossybox/beauty boxes in general, as I think it's a really interesting concept and every one always feels differently about them!

Hope you're having a lovely weekend :)
