NEW TO MY WARDROBE

The Top Five: Candles

I've decided to start a "Top Five" series on the blog - featuring my five must-haves from each beauty category, kicking it all off today with my top five must have Candles. I love scented candles, from fresh and floral to the sweetest vanilla, there are very few I don't love. I thought i'd show you a few that I have on the go at the moment for different occasions...

You may have already seen my newest little addition to the family - floral gardenia - on the far right in my more recent posts. This is a very lightly scented candle that I was given for Christmas. Although it lacks slightly in scent, it makes up for by being aesthetically pleasing. The jar creates a pinky golden glow in the surrounding area, and makes for a nice constant burner when you don't want to feel overwhelmed.

My two Diptique candles, Baies and Mimosa are saved for moments when I'm tapping out a blog post or filming. They're beautifully fresh and saving them for filming actually helps to keep me motivated!

Another new edition which has been burnt  a lot around bed time, especially over the Christmas period is Yankees Red Velvet Cupcake. A sickly sweet cake scent that fills my room, and I go to bed dreaming of gum drop buttons... not really, I actually have nightmares about breaking my new lighting set up and/or zombies, but to tell you gum drop buttons seems a lot nicer...

Finally we have my vanilla cupcake tea-light candles by Yankee, they smell just as amazing as red velvet cupcake and look adorable in my little golden candle glass (pictured at the far back).

So there you have it, let me know if there are any you think I need to get a whiff of when I'm out and about next! And if there's a specific top five category you'd like to see then definitely let me know! Next up - lipsticks!

  1. Im a big fan of yankee candles. One of my favourite scents is Clean Cotton. When I went to Dubai last year I picked up some of the bath and body works candles. THEY ARE AMAZING. My favourite is 'Warm vanilla sugar' Such a yummy scent. Its so annoying the only way I will get hold of them is by spending an obscene amount on ebay for them! :-(

  4. I've really got into Yankee Candles since Christmas. Although I don't really want to shell out for a big jar, I've been buying lots of the wax tarts. It's a much cheaper way to mix and match scents! x

  8. I used to work at a department store and my favourite part of the day was when I had to go to the special Yankee candle cupboard to stock up the display... I'd just stand in there smelling all the different scents. It was heaven. Looking forward to the day I can allow myself to spend the money on one of the big huge jar ones rather than the little 'testers' that I usually have to content myself with.
Love the idea of a 'top 5' post, can't wait for more!

  10. Adore the idea of a top 5 series. I'm not one of those people who generally enjoy candles but I honestly want to give Diptyque a go!

  11. Okkkk you have encouraged me to get off the sofa and go candle shopping, as well as pick up a few items from the post office. I need Red Velvet Cupcake in my life! I've had Vanilla Cupcake before and it's so beautiful! I literally have about 20 yankee candles in my apartment, I'm obsessed with them. I think I need to branch out and try more candle brands though.
