The hair is pretty simple - a fishtail plait, Halo braid and high pony tail - which actually has a french plait running up the back. Perfect for festivals. The makeup? Not so much. However it's quite an accurate representation of my festival makeup as I've vowed to only do singular days or stay in hotels after the horror that was Reading 2010. That swamp on the corner of green zone, just before purple zone - yeup, that was us. So if you're a one day festival go-er like myself, or you just enjoy lugging around masses of makeup remover with you then keep reading...
For a natural and (surprisingly) very festival appropriate base, I smoothed on the Origins Vita Zing Moisturiser. It's pretty low coverage, so I buffed in a little concealer in the form of the Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer in Sand where I had some serious redness and used the Collection Illuminating Touch concealer in 03 Glow to highlight. I then concealed my dark under eye circles with the Origins Plantscrition Concealer - if there ever was a late night saviour then this is it - perfect for festivals. I'm aware I'm completely concealer mental, but considering where these photos were going, I think that's okay.
For eyes I did a little contouring using my naked basics palette and then did a pretty hefty bit a winged eyeliner using the Collection Fast Stroke Liquid Eyeliner - it's actually pretty handy at festivals, as you can whip this stuff off using water and a cotton bud! Next I layered on a generous amount of the L'Oreal Teloscopic Waterproof Mascara - don't take this one to a festival unless you have about a gallon of Bioderma with you - for every day wear this really holds a curl and looks lovely without any accompanying eyeliner or shadow. To finish off I did my eyebrows with my Rimmel Professional Pencil - nothing new there - and switched between two lipsticks: MAC Ruby Woo and MAC Patisserie with dab of the Clarins Lip Perfector for good measure.
So, three concealers, two lipsticks, three eye products, a tinted moisturiser, gloss and eyebrow pencil went into my company magazine face. I had a lot of fun thinking of the different hairstyles for the feature and actually shot five! These were actually taken the same weekend I went to Center Parcs and what you can't see is that I'm actually standing ankle deep in snow! Despite the obstacles I think I can officially call Operation Festival Feature a success. Now I just need to pick a festival and put these hairstyles into practice..
