NEW TO MY WARDROBE

The Review: Maybelline Colour Sensational Shine Gloss

Since picking up the Maybelline Colour Sensational Shine Gloss in Cashmere Rose and Glorious Grapefruit, I've felt like a glossy shaped hole has been filled in my makeup bag. In fact, I haven't been this excited about a lip product since I purchased the Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfecter in 03 last summer - shocking really. But a bit of shine, with a little colour and no stick had me hooked and now I'm feeling the need to run back to Boots and pick up the rest of the collection.

Cashmere Rose is the lighter of the two and works better layered over a nude lip (my current favourite being the Revlon Colourburst Matte Balm in the shade Complex), giving it a slightly more pink, glowy sheen. Glorious Grapefruit is much more of a peachy pink with slightly more colour pay off. Because of this I either wear it alone or over one of the various orangey-peachy Revlon Matte Balms I have rolling around (and trust me, there are a few. Review coming soon).

So which one next? Well there's a beautiful orange shade in the range that's really caught my eye, and I'm feeling something a little more nude too. I can't quite believe I'm planning my next lipgloss purchase - am I feeling okay?

  2. Your planning of lip gloss purchases has encouraged me to plan my own! I've never really been one for a lip gloss because of their stickiness and anytime I did wear one there'd be a sudden gust of wind and it would end up in my hair! Are these really non sticky? :) xx

  7. I just bought the Cashmere Rose and I absolutely love it (which is serious, considering I usually can't stand glosses), but I wear it simply over my ECO lip balm, so I am not really looking forward to trying it with a lipstick underneath, thanks so much for the tip! :)

  9. These look absolutely lovely! They have the colour sensational glosses here in Australia, but in different packaging (same as in the US), so I'm not sure if they are the same formulas!

  13. The orange shade looks beautiful in the tube, but it does not translate so intense on the lips at all. Otherwise, lovely formula indeed.

  25. I used to absolutely hate lip gloss! Only within the last few months have I begun to appreciate it and enjoy wearing it more. I absolutely love the Maybelline Color Elixir in the shade Petal Plush and I'm considering (gasp!) purchasing a high end lip gloss for my prom.

  45. I bought the nude one; " Cashmere Rose", I only try it for few minute at home just for checking if the color wasn't too "brown" (actually it's more a pinky nude as you said, which is perfect). But I think it such a nice product it smell so good, like honey mixed with orange! And it's not sticky, it's more moisturising! I really want to buy the pink one it's called Pink Petale I think it look really pretty! :) xx

  46. I love the matte balms - I have Striking and Standout. I looked for Complex for ages but it was sold out in my local Boots on several occasions. I can imagine it looks lovely paired with Cashmere Rose so I'm feeling a little purchase coming along!X
