Tom Ford is a brand that sits pretty high up on my lust list. Their eye quads are some of the most beautiful I've ever seen and their lipsticks are so beautifully luxurious that I wince a little once the engraved "TF" starts to wear. Rest assured it does get worn away though, no applying from the back of the bullet going on over here! When the Lips & Boys collection was released I made sure to swing by the launch and get a little looksie at the endearingly tiny new limited edition lipstick range.
As usual the colours are beautiful, with a rich shade and butter-like texture. Despite not being the most long lasting, they have worked their way into my daily makeup routine pretty darn fast. The difference? Whilst most top ford lipsticks are rather chunky in size, the new additions to the family are super tiny! The majority of the range has a shimmer running though and gives a beautiful plump look to the lips, however if matte lips are more your thing then there's little of that to be found in Lips & Boys.
I have the shades Cary (plum/nude), Xavier (deep plum) and Leonardo (deep red) and all are beautiful shades. However there is always the question of dollar per gram when we're talking about limited edition lipsticks smaller than my child sized fingers. I did the math and (praying I get this right. Totally not a numbers girl) based on the prices on the Selfridges website, we're looking at a 70 pence difference per gram. With regular lipsticks coming in at £12.30 per gram (£37 for three grams - yikes) Lips & Boys being £13 per gram (£26 for two grams - double YIKES). It's not for me to say which one is worth buying (unless you're not a fan of small glossy lipsticks), so go, swatch and let me know your thoughts.
