NEW TO MY WARDROBE

Something A Little More Seventies...

I have to admit when the 70's trend rolled back around I was one of the first to sigh in despair. Flares, fur collars and cuffs, DENIM? seriously? No thank you. We all know the denim trend won me over in the end, but the rest, I'm still not so sure. So I set myself a little challenge to find something, anything, that I could wear daily and throw on feeling like myself. Where do you start? Well, buy all new trends in black, obviously.

During my trails of a few different items I became completely obsessed with off the shoulder tops. They're such a nostalgic item for me as they were "the thing" when I was around 7/8 years old and obsessed with the Olsen Twins (nothing changed there - BUT SERIOUSLY  HOW HAVE THEY BEEN LIFE LONG STYLE ICONS!? Kudos to them...). Mine was always a tad too big and I'd be hoisting it back in to place regularly. However, this off the shoulder top from ASOS fits perfectly both on and off the shoulders (it sits really naturally on the shoulders which makes coat wearing less of a faff than it looks) and has been worn about six times already since it's purchase a few weeks back (rest assured it's also been though the wash a lot too)!

I purchased it from the tall section to avoid things getting too "croppy" - for some reason every retailer under the sun wants to crop things all year round which is just not flattering - and It feels almost timeless when I wear it with jeans and my regular boots and I've even purchased similar sets in patterns and colours (COLOURS PEOPLE!!!) just in time for the sun to finally show it's face for more than two hours. Guess who's going to have super brown shoulders (and nothing else) by the end of summer!

  1. I feel your pain on the cropped tops, just why? But this one is stunning, and is a lovely take on the 70's.

  10. I know exactly what you mean every shop has decided crop tops are the way forward 😕 well after my baby (never mind that she is 4 now) I had a 2 year fitness burst and could still look fairly ok in a crop top but after being ill last year and then endless eating over Xmas which I haven't really stopped (gawd I love food!) I don not want to show the world my tummy but shoulders I'm good with lol! They are about the only toned part of me although I may invest in a pair of high waisted flares that would solve both hiding the tummy & the cropped top problem!

  11. Totally agree with you on the croppy front. I really don't know why retaillers make so many crop tops - It's ridiculous. I don't want to see peoples midriff & I;m sure people don't want to see mine. Ha. You look great! Love this style of shirt.

  13. I agree that I never really go overboard with trends, simply because they are just passing 'trends' and are so temporary, but I do love how certain 70's inspired outfits look. You've done it so subtly, I love it! :)

  14. I'm not ashamed to say that my primary school years involved a lot of Olsen twin inspired purchases. I think I had a couple of these styles too. I was the same, as a short girl hearing the 70's was back isn't the best news. As good as flares can look on taller girls it isn't the same on someone under 5"2. But this is a really grown up way to wear the 70s & Olsen style and I love the hat too!

  40. I think there are ways to subtly 'rock' (I hate that phrase but it'll have to do) a trend, and you've totally hit the nail on the head with this one. I love the stroppy cold shoulder floaty top from ASOS you mentioned a few months ago (I purchased in both black and white!) and love this one too, along with the super cool hat.

Part of me is loving the A-Line, button up skirts I keep seeing everywhere at the moment, but another part knows my Mum will go on non-stop about how she used to have a skirt identical to it in the 70s! Basically, similar to how I felt about Birkenstock's last year!

  49. I'm the total opposite, I LOVE the 70s trend. I think the 70s were such an individualistic decade where anything was beautiful. I think that our new insight on fashion could take the 70s trend to a whole new level. That said, I love your outfit.

    1. Yay!! you cannot believe what this spell caster Dr Brave just did for me!!! Was this all a magic?? "This is totally a Easter miracle for me lol" My mouth are short of words. “I got a divorce from my husband when I was six months pregnant with my second child. We had only been married for a short time and had another child who was 1 year old. We had been arguing and quarreling nonstop since the day our first child was conceived, no love nor trust from him anymore so he divorced. And all these whiles, I have been trying all different means to get him back, I also tried some different spell casters from other countries, but none of them could bring Richard back to me. It was only Dr Brave who guaranteed me an urgent 48 hours spell casting, and he assure me that my husband will be with me before Easter day. I am writing to offer my thanks and deep gratitude to you for keeping your promises, and for using your gifted and great powers to bring him back today 2nd of April 2015.. I was thrilled to know that you are specialized in reuniting Lovers. I never thought, in my whole life, that I would be writing to thank someone for casting a love spell on my marriage, but that day has arrived! I have never been happier in my life, and I feel like all of my dreams has turned into reality now. Thank you, Dr Brave , for helping me through the worst times of my life, for being such a great spell caster, and for giving me a love spell that has brought me so much joy. If you doubt his ability, trust me. You should take a chance. It pays off in ways you could never even imagine, Contact him through his website: http://enchantedscents.tripod.com/lovespell/ or his Email: bravespellcaster@gmail.com . thank you so much sir
