WELL WHAT A YEAR THAT WAS...
I've really come to love new year in my adult life, it always does seem to signify a blank slate both personally and professionally (in the industries I've worked in at least). Of course, every day and every month is a fresh start, but there's something about a new beginning and a clear(er) calendar that I find both soothing and motivating in one.
I love making plans for a blank calendar and, whilst doing so, I take the time to look back over the past year. Reflecting on both the highs and lows, working out what went well and where there's room for improvement. I'm always surprised by how many wonderful milestones I've passed when I look back over the past year and this year was no exception. I've made wonderful new friend's who continue to amaze me every day with their kindness, conquered my fear of travelling alone and grown so much both personally and professionally in just one year that I can't even imagine what my life will be 365 days from now.
THIS YEAR I....
Set foot in Paris for the fourth year running - this was also the trip where I met the lovely Tijan!
Spoke on a panel at Beautycon LDN in May - for someone who is afraid of speaking I can't quite believe I did it!
Hosted one Brighton meet up and two London meet ups! (Hopefully next year there will be even more!)
Made two bag investments from luxury brands - Aspinal and Givenchy. Worth every penny.
Flew to Barcelona (alone!) for a four day shoot with Clarins (PINCH ME DID THAT ACTUALLY HAPPEN!?)
Went to Wimbledon in July for the very first time as a VIP!
Nala turned one!
Flew to Los Angeles in July for VidCon
Joined the Gym and actually enjoyed it. My aim is to try to go at least three times a week this year.
Flew to Ibiza in August for two days of incredible experiences with some of my favourite blogging girls.
Went to a very rain Reading Festival in August with the boyfriend, Liv and Carrie!
Flew to Skiathos in September for a week of working in the sun in the Greek hillside with Rosie, Alix, and Fleur.
Landed back in London after my trip to Greece and made my way to London for my first red carpet for the Premiere of The Intern.
Hit 250,000 Subscribers on my channel in September and reached over 1.5 million views on my channel in October - so many zero's!
Was flown out to Florence at the start of September for a dinner with Salvatore Ferragamo - SAY. WHUT. I know. Someone wake me up.
Celebrated NINE YEARS of being with le boyfriend. I cannot believe we're now working towards a decade together and I'm still so smitten and so excited about each and every day with him
THINGS I'VE LEARNT
I've always known it, but this year various events made me really feel in my bones how important it is to make time for those you love and create a really nourishing environment around you. To fill your life with people who make you feel emotionally rich and bring you joy.
I've also learnt that it's okay to reach out more: I never used to be the first one to contact friends. I lacked the self confidence to feel that they would actively want to speak to me, and that my reaching out would be disturbing them. WARNING FRIENDS: This year you will not be able to get rid of me ;)
It's been an eventful year and I cannot believe how much has changed and how much I've changed! So many of the wonderful things have happened because of this space and your support - I already touched on it in this post here, but you really have changed my life - and I cannot thank you enough for that. There are so many of you reading now that it genuinely blows my mind (no really, it does! Due to a glitch, my analytics has only recently showed me how many of you there actually are!) and I hope you've all had a wonderful year too!
I hope you all have a brilliant NYE - See you in 2016!
