A few weeks back I ‘fessed my love for the Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray and added it to my thumbs up collective of all things haircare. But the Bumble and Bumble gods have recently taken the quest for texture and volume one step further in the form of the Surf Foam Wash Shampoo* and Creme Rinse Conditioner*.
As soon as I got wind of these on Into The Gloss I added them to my hair care wishlist – effortless texture and volume? Yes please! So the second these hit my doorstep I did girly squeal – I won’t lie. My love for Bumble and Bumble is everlasting and these are no exception. I was mildly sceptical at first as to what result these could actually have, after all I find shampoos and conditioner never have noticeable results like masks or post wash products. I was also a little worried I might have crazy, dry, crunchy hair after using them. With these factors in mind i crossed my fingers and let the “trailing new product” excitement take over.
Fast forward 10 minutes and I have freshly washed hair, the products smelt nice, nothing overpowering and no lingering post wash, the conditioner was hydrating but light weight and gets a thumbs up from me. Once my hair started to dry I could see it looked far more textured than normal, and – don’t hold me to this because it never happens – for a second I was tempted to let my hair dry naturally. Obviously I didn’t, I went ahead and carried out the usual messy blow dry by tipping my head upside down. Once dried I inspected my freshly washed locks, no crunchy or crisp feel here folks, just my usual do but slightly more textured, with a little more grip and hold when styling and a little more volume. I can’t put my finger on what it was exactly, but my mop just looked nicer on the whole.
I personally think these are the far more subtle cousins of the Surf Spray, so for those of you who said the surf spray made your hair too crispy, these might just be worth a shot! These were officially meant to be out on the 1st May, but I’ve already seen them cropping up in a fair few places including Space NK, i’ll definitely be repurchasing once i’m all out. Until then, i’ll continue to swish my subtly textured hair and pretending the shampoo doesn’t cost £18 a bottle…
