One of the products that has been queried most on Hello October – and was still yet to be reviewed *slaps own wrist* is Hydraluron. The serum that goes on post toner and pre-moisturiser and is supposedly the saviour of dehydrated skin. Lots of reviews of this little dream are full of product facts, figures and statistics, and don’t get me wrong I love a good statistic (and a spread sheet – such a nerd) more than anyone and I love knowing what is/isn’t in my skincare, but how does it actually work?! I’ve put together a little list of my thoughts based on how I got on with it and on some of your questions!
“Do I need it? Is it right for X skin type?:
I received an early morning text from a colleague asking me this a few weeks back. Chances are your skin is going to be dehydrated at some point in your life – for me it’s all the bloomin’ time. But for some it’s after a flight or a night out. It’s also great for all skin types and all ages – with normal – oily skin at the age of 21 I didn’t think I’d really need it, but boy I was wrong.
“How do I use it and how often? Can I use it with other serums/oils?”:
As seen in yesterdays video, I go Cleanser > Toner > Hydraluron > Moisturiser. If I really feel the need to use an oil then I use it after Hydraluron. It’s effectively the glue between skin and anything hydrating, so make this a skincare base, of sorts. But mostly I just like the whole “serum then moisturiser = done” combo. That just works for me, but isn’t for everyone. Lots of people dip in and out of using this, but if your skin doesn’t dip out of being dehydrated – like mine *sad face* – then use it at least once a day. I use it every day in the morning, and sometimes in the evening if I’m in one of the following situations: London, post flights, post birthday weekends (that one’s coming up soon)!
For me, dipping in and out of using it didn’t leave me with fantastic results, so if you’ve purchased this and haven’t really seen or felt a change in your skin then give it a good long run of testing, once a day, every day for a month. This was the only way I started to see the difference it makes. Not only does my skin appear more plump, but when my skin is hydrated, spots and scarring fade a lot quicker – making me a very happy girlie.
If you have any more questions then you are welcome to tweet me @hello_october_ (just remember I’m not a skincare genius, I can only speak from experience)!
