Question: What do you get when you invite me to breakfast? Answer: Two texts, one phone call, an “i’m lost” text and eventually – lunch. Brunch gets lost in between the mountain of work emergencies, lost pairs of tights and “can’t find my keys!” out-bursts. To sum it up – don’t ever make plans with me on a Saturday. Yesterday I met Elisha and we made our way to Marmalade in Kemp Town for some breakfast (*ahem* Lunch), I’d delayed our plans so much that Elisha even had breakfast on our walk to lunch as we both get rather clumsy when we’re hungry!
Marmalade is a small Pinterest perfect cafe about 20 minutes east of the town centre. Recommended by my friend who is a member of staff there, I decided I had to give their menu and interior a good road test and I can officially report that this little place is my favourite find to date. Between the weathered floors, wooden stools and cosy upstairs seating, you have warm lighting, antique grey furnishings and a counter display piled high with the most beautiful sandwiches and brownies I’ve seen in a long time.
The menu isn’t vast, but the selection is good, and I can report their Mocha’s are divine. Seeing as Elisha had breakfast on route, she went for a more lunch appropriate option of chilli sweetcorn cream soup *drools over photo*, and I opted for crumpets with blackberry butter *more drooling*. I think I need to go and test out a few more things on the menu though… we definitely have unfinished business.
I thought I’d pop in a little outfit of the day for you as well – after being bedridden for the past few days I decided to make a little effort (despite the rain – please excuse my hair) and slipped into my newest dress, courtesy of Motel (link here). I was meant to wear it up to LFW yesterday but couldn’t quite face two hours of traveling and, you know, daylight. It’s the perfect dress for autumn so expect to see it popping up in a few posts soon, complete with scarfs, boots and frilly socks – you can tell I’m an autumnal girl at heart can’t you?
