This weeks video is one I’d been anxious about from the start. Josh and I moved in together a few weeks back and our first home together is something that is incredibly personal to both of us – hence the “our” in the video title which a few people asked about- I’m not the only one that lives here! We chose not to do a home tour from door to door, but show our (or my) favourite pieces in the flat.
The living room is a space that Josh has put his own personal touches to here and there, whilst I sourced and decided on furniture, which worked quite well. He has a desk and a book shelf on one half of the room and keeps a few things in the Ikea expedit and, of course, the gamer art on top of the fire place – guess which one’s my favourite? We had quite a few bits and pieces from when we lived at home, but there are a few new additions – striped pillows from Next, a pug pillow from Primark (not new but I recon someone’s going to ask!), brown throw from Matalan and a mercury effect vase from Next.
The kitchen is small, so there’s not too much going on in there, but we used wicker baskets to keep lots of utensils (and bread) tidy and keep sugar and tea bags in Kilner jars – pretty standard really. We have a stupid amount of tea towls for some reason, but my favourites are from Robert Dyas and are a muted green colour with white polka dots (very Kath Kidston). The salt and pepper shakers were a gift but I think you can get them in Sainsburys!
Our bathroom is hideous (think yellow…) so there’s nothing really worth showing in there, but my bedroom has to be my favourite. I was a little unsure about how the bedroom would turn out as it looked completely different when the people before us lived here, but once everything was in place I was rather chuffed. The bedding is a set I’ve had for years since living at home, but all the pillows are from Ikea and the throw was picked up whilst food shopping in Sainsburys. All of the furniture was bought way back when I was 16 aside from the desk which is my pride and joy. A spendy splurge in Next left me with this one but it’s just so different to the generic Ikea desks out there – although I could do with more drawer space…
