Hat: Missguided | Coat: Primark | Jumper: Urban Outfitters | Skort: Topshop | Tights: ASOS | Bag: Zara
I’d been itching to shoot an outfit in black and white for a while now, so when I picked up this gingham mini kilt skort from Topshop, I took it as a sign. We hunted high and low for the perfect location to take these photos, before realising that colours didn’t really factor in once the photos are edited. So we settled for somewhere local and pretty – and a few of you even tweeted to say you saw me (so hi!).
Anyway, back to the shorts. I’d been after a gingham print skirt for so long, but I struggle so much with finding the perfect skirt shapes for my size, so when I saw a pair of gingham print skorts I snapped them up. I’m a massive lover of shorts, but sometimes I feel like an outfit needs a slightly more feminine edge, so these are perfect. I love the fact that the shorts are slightly longer than the skirt edge, it gives it a slightly different shape from afar, but doesn’t look weird at all. It’s also worth noting I picked these up in the standard Topshop range, not petites and they aren’t too long at all – something I was concerned about when I first saw them on the website.
I paired them with an all black outfit, but I think they would look perfect with pastel coloured jumpers too. Although you can’t see in the photos I wore my ASOS Adverse Chelsea Boots – my perfect winter shoe. I find flats work better with this outfit over heels – I don’t know why, i’m just very particular about shoes…
