Over the past three years fashion week for me has involved three things, my pyjamas, sweets and a live stream of every show I could find. This year has been just a tad more exciting with backstage visits and shows. As you can imagine this sparked an internal panic of what the hell do I wear!? I decided to keep it simple with my Zara leather trousers and white slouchy top, my ASOS camel coat, River Island bag and New Look boots. I also decided after many back and forth snapchats to Luce that I would put my hair up for a change. The weather is crazy right now, so a messy pony tail keeps things out of my face and gets better the more it gets bashed about.
After a 7am wake up and three cancelled trains (Mother Nature you’ve made your point, now it’s time to have a cup of tea and chill the eff out.) I made it to London. Luce and I popped back stage at Markus Lupfer and watched as they used (my favourite) Bumble products to create a sleek, textured, effortless wave on the models. With Liz Earl makeup being used to create a dewy finish to the skin with various types of liner. We stayed for the presentation too, where fish and chips were being dished up along with a gin and tonic. The looks were so lovely and the show was my favourite of the day.
We also made a stop at 1205, a designer I was particularly interested in after their s/s14 show. They had very graphic, thin liner with very sharp, textured locks (courtesy of the lovely Bumble and Bumble gang). We stayed and watched the show too – the clothes were beautiful and the colours and textures already have me excited for A/W14.
I planned on taking a stroll over to Somerset House after, but Luce and I were so hungry we had to make a stop at Bodeans to refuel. The burnt ends with pulled pork were delicious – definitely get them if you go for dinner there. After a long day and a lot of food I hopped on the train back home, more delays, and finally found myself in my pyjamas watching good will hunting.
How would I describe my first day of fashion week? Exhausting, I wasn’t expecting anything else really, but I don’t know how people can do the full five days. Saturday and Monday is enough for me. I’m back again tomorrow, so keep your eyes peeled for a Monday round up, I don’t want to say too much, but it’s looking to be a goodie…
