After months of being far too overdressed for an unseasonably warm Autumn in the south of the UK, the cold snap finally kicked in. Normally this is the point where I get a serious case of “when’s my next vacation?” syndrome, but this year, for once, I’m feeling pretty happy with it all. It may be because It means Christmas is coming (after which the need for a holiday will finally kick in because January really does suck) or it might be because I suddenly have a wardrobe of coats that I can finally attempt to justify. The excessive coat wardrobe is finally in action and I’ve been prancing around London in this little River Island beauty a lot recently.
The pea coat cut is one of my favourites as it’s super flattering on a smaller frame and the collar – ohhh the collar! I feel like faux fur is a very love it or hate it piece but when it comes to a faux fur collar on a coat it can take the most standard cut or colour and make it feel that little bit more special. it’s a little bit magic and really does work for keeping you toasty during the colder months. It also makes this coat look freaking adorable so I’m a total fan of the magic that is faux fur.
In addition to my love of coats and a collar that’s a little more on the fluffy side, I’m currently completely head over heels obsessed with pink right now. From pastel and baby pinks to a more neutral nude (and even a very special pair of pink striped pyjamas), I can’t get enough. So this addition to my wardrobe manages to encompass three of my major obsessions for this season.
It also works perfectly with the winter essentials that are hats, scarfs and gloves. Leaving me to prance down regents street feeling like a creation of Dr Seuss.
