Just moments after stepping off the plane and leaving the airport, I knew Italy was going to be good to me. From the buzz of the busy streets in Florence to the beautiful architecture, all wrapped up with a relaxed and inviting welcome where ever we went, it felt perfect. Ferragamo very kindly invited me a long to the their latest fragrance launch – more on that later this week – and booked me a wonderful little hotel tucked away just a few steps from the river.
The smell of wood burning fires rose through the open balcony doors as I unpacked my suitcase, and I couldn’t help not only feel like one of the luckiest girls in the world, but also desperate to get outside and explore some more.
We walked by the river, and through the busy streets towards the cathedral, also known as Il Duomo di Firenze, which is honestly one of the most breath taking buildings I’ve ever seen (warning I have a thing with european buildings and architecture so please bear with me during these kinds of posts as I will just talk about my favourite buildings). I didn’t get the chance to make my way to the top, but trust me when I say it’s on my list.
I’m not sure what I loved most, maybe it was the delicious food, the smell of wood burning fires in the streets or the fact that they would only accept my full name with it’s Italian spelling instead of my preferred – I really did start to come around to “Susanna Bonaldi” after 24 hours of hearing it in such a charming accent – but one things for sure, I had the most wonderful time and already have plans to return with the boy.
See you again soon, Florence!
*Full post on the dinner and hotel stay coming this week, but a massive thank you to Ferragamo for such a magical experience!*
