THE NUDE ROSE SMOKY EYE
Today’s post is most certainly dedicated to lovers of rosy, fresh, golden toned palettes – Collection have recently launched their latest addition to the Eyes Uncovered range, which will certainly be a must have for anyone who loves a hint of warmth and shimmer to their nude shadows. Over the winter months my personal preferences always lean more towards smoky reds and browns but as the sun begins to shine and spring is within reach my preferences become a little more neutral and feminine.
I’ve been a fan of the original Eyes Uncovered palette since it was first released, and the whispers of a Nude Rose palette more than caught my attention. Six pink, rose gold inspired shades with a hint of shimmer – dreamy, right? Pink shadows are definitely on trend for Spring 2016 and with the addition of the new Primed & Ready eye primer there was never a better time to give these new releases a whirl and talk you through my go to look for spring. I know, I’m an eager beaver but we all need something to keep us motivated through the last of the cold snap, right?
Keep on reading for a step by step run through of my go-to eye look!
Before applying the shadows I prime my eyes. The Illuminating and Reviving Eye Primer not only helps to prevent creasing and increases the longevity to your makeup, but its pearlescent finish helps to illuminate and brighten the eyes and intensify the colour. It can be applied super easily with your fingers and comes in a handy little squeezy tube for fuss free application.
As with most of my smaller palettes, my go-to approach to application is fairly simple. I work my way across the palette from the lightest shade to the darkest. Taking my time to blend each shade out thoroughly with a large fluffy brush. As the shades get darker I concentrate the product towards the outer corner, keeping the inner corner looking bright for a wide eye’d effect (this is not only super flattering for most eye shapes but keeps things fresh and perfect for the spring and summer months).
After applying the darker shades to my outer corners and crease I like to double back and apply a medium shade from the palette to the centre and outer corner of my eye to make sure the colours are all seamlessly blended and add a small amount of the lightest shade to my inner corner.
This is where winter meets spring in this look. I finish off the eyeshadow by taking a flat shader brush and lightly blend in to my lower lash line. This gives a super fresh look a smoky edge and works perfectly with lashings of mascara during the day or (my any time of day/month/year favourite) a thick sweep of liner for the evening. I decided to go for the full works as you can see and I love the doe eye’d effect that it gives.
It’s a little edgier which makes a nice change to the usual fresh spring makeup, and the warm tone of the deep purple shadow prevents things from looking too cool and bruise-like.
